The centenary of the start of the First World War was very much in the hearts and minds of children, staff and families at Plymouth College Preparatory School's Remembrance Service.
The service, held in the school's chapel, was a mix of hymns, music, prayers and readings. A wreath was laid by Year 6 pupils, Bronwen Harris and Tom Davis, at the foot of the Memorial Board to all the nurses and doctors from the Plymouth Royal Naval Hospital who gave their lives during the First World War - the school is based on the site of the former Royal Naval Hospital.
"The chapel originally served the Royal Navy when this site was a military hospital and it contains a number of memorials to those who have lost their lives in times of war", said Headmaster, Chris Gatherer. "While remembering the First World War was at the forefront of this year's service, it was not just about conflicts that happened many years ago but also about remembering forces personnel, particularly family members of pupils, who are currently serving at home and overseas.
