Plymouth College celebrates excellent GCSE results, with one in ten pupils achieving straight A*s or As or equivalent.

The College is hugely proud of the achievements of all its pupils.  Given the new, and more challenging GCSEs, pupils have nonetheless achieved at the highest level.  Pupils sat a combination of GCSEs and IGCSEs, therefore receiving a mix of both number and letter grades.

The College’s top performers demonstrated that girls can achieve highly in a co-educational environment.  Lucy Armitage and Cecilia Fatti, both taking advantage of the high level of support given to them by the College as part of its high performance swim programme, achieved straight A* grades or equivalent, showing their commitment both in the pool and in the classroom.  Tonya Oerlemans, a boarder from South Africa, and also on the high performance swim programme, achieved 9 A*s and 1 A or equivalent.  Emma Andrews, a fencer and hockey player, achieved 10 A*s and 1 A or equivalent.  Congratulations also go to Iona Brockie who achieved 6 A*s and 4 As or equivalent.

The academic performance of the boys was also impressive.  Joe Sair worked hard to attain 9 A*s and 1 A or equivalent, with Harris Habib achieving 7 A*s and 2 As. Oscar Boyhan Irvine completed 12 GSCEs, obtaining 6 A*s, 5 As and 1 B or equivalent.  Twins Hayden and Lenel Ah Wan, international swimmers from the Seychelles, racked up 19 A*s or As or equivalent between them, and look forward to continuing their academic and swimming pathway at the College.

Jonathan Standen, Headmaster says: “I am delighted with these highly impressive results from our pupils.  Once again, we have seen a significant number achieving at the highest level.   Plymouth College continues to demonstrate its academic strength, providing small class sizes and dedicated teachers, alongside outstanding individual and personalised support, all of which add significant value to pupils’ results.  The holistic education provided at the College means that we are able to maximise the potential of each and every pupil, both inside and outside the classroom, enabling them to deliver their very best.”
