Plymouth College celebrated the Chinese 'Year of the Horse' with a colourful and lively procession around the school site. Students carried a giant horse made from willow and tissue-paper, and a variety of red lanterns with good luck messages in Chinese. The procession was supported by the Samba Band led by Dr Christian Taylor, with Mayson Tam playing the Chinese Drum.
The willow horse started as a Saturday boarding activity with students building the main structure. The tissue paper skin was added during the after school club, 'Willow Lantern Workshop'. Upper Sixth pupil, Vito Wong, took the lead in building the horse.
"As always the Chinese New Year procession was a lot of fun", said art teacher and workshop leader, Dana Roberts. "The best part was walking through the main school building and library with lots of drumming and noise. Thank you to everyone who helped. Kung Hey Fat Choi!"
