Upper Sixth pupil, Ben Andrews, produced an outstanding performance to claim gold at the British Under-23 Fencing Championships in London this weekend! Ben competed in the men’s epee competition, taking the national title after beating his Great Britain team-mate and number one ranked junior fencer Will East 15-8 in the final.
This is another incredible achievement, as at only 17 years old Ben also holds the British Under-20 title. It definitely looks to be an exciting year for Ben and we are all wishing him the best of luck for his upcoming competitions!
In addition to a significant boost to his national ranking points, the achievement also brings a guaranteed selection for the U23 European and World Championships in June. Ben has been selected to fight for GB at World Cups in Serbia and Switzerland this February before heading to Italy for the under 20’s European Championships in March and the World Championships, Poland, in April.
