A Fantastic First Week Back!
We have had a fantastic first week back here at Plymouth College - from welcoming our Prep and Senior pupils back safely into the classroom to hearing of all of the recent sporting success of our Senior pupils.
This week, we have been been so happy to welcome all of our new and existing pupils to both the Prep and Senior School. Whilst we have been settling back into a fresh new term, we have also been celebrating the recent sporting success of some of our Senior School pupils.
In the pool, we have had the recent success of Upper Sixth pupil, Salvador Gordo, and Year 9 pupil, Ollie Dennis.
Ollie has done amazingly well in his swimming and with his partnership with Plymouth Leander, has qualified for the Swim England National Development Program along with 4 other PL swimmers.
Salvador has also done amazing by swimming a 2.11 in the 200m Fly pre-lockdown at CANA (African Swimming Confederation) and as a result, is now ranked #8 in the continent for the season.
In other sporting events, we have had recent success by Year 9 pupils Molly Shorey and Nubia Evans-Shields.
Nubia took part in both the Bournemouth Throws Invitational Trial and the Newquay and Par AC Throw Series to claim her victory and her current number 1 ranking in her UK U15 age category, to which she leads by a metre-and-a-half.
Molly was also able to secure an amazing spot in the UK U15 rankings for the 1500m by knocking more than six seconds off of her personal best time to a speedy 4:48.11 at the BMC Gold Standard Races at Lee Valley and is now ranked 5th in the country.
A HUGE well done to Salvador, Ollie, Nubia and Molly for their fantastic sports achievements but also a huge well doe to every Plymouth College pupil for settling back into the new term so smoothly.
