Mrs Sara Sullivan, Art teacher at Plymouth College, has made it through to the final round of The Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition competition!
This is a prestigious international competition that has been running for 250 years and receives approximately 13,000 entries each year. It is judged by 10 panellists made up of the art establishment's finest, including Artists, Art College Directors, major gallery owners and Arts glitterati such as Grayson Perry. This year's subject was on the theme of: 'how do artists respond to the contemporary digital climate'.
Two of Mrs Sullivan’s pieces were entered into the competition, one a piece of digital art (abstract fine art photography created in photoshop) called ‘Urban Sandwich’ and a large scale painting (approx 1.5m square) called 'Connectivity at La Cueva del Gato'.
‘Urban Sandwich’ has been shortlisted, and we will find out after May 25th whether it will be hanged in the exhibition! This is not only a fantastic personal achievement, but also inspires pupils to strive for excellence both inside and outside of the classroom.
