Gemma Kerr, Year 11, went to Wellingborough to play in the English Leagues Cup Finals. She was representing Plymouth in the JM Rose Bowl (women). Eight teams reached the finals, Plymouth were up against Cambridge, Central London, Leamington, Leicester, North Herts, Staines and Warrington.
The standard was very high, so Gemma and her partner Rachel Trevorrow had a tough day ahead of them.
They managed to top their group and were therefore in the running for 1st or 2nd place playoff. The Leicester team they met in the final were favourites to win. They are ranked 8th and 20th in the English women’s ranking list whereas Rachel is ranked 14th and Gemma 50th.
Gemma and Rachel beat the lady ranked 20th and they won the doubles match which secured them the title.
An amazing day with lots of brilliant matches- and a title very well deserved!
