The European Junior Championships in Kazan featured some incredible swimming from Plymouth College and Plymouth Leander swimmers, Sophie Freeman and Honey Osrin.
Sophie Freeman, the youngest swimmer to compete in the 200m butterfly, finished the final in 8th place. Sophie also swam the butterfly leg in the Mixed Medley relay team which placed 4th in the final. In the 100m butterfly Sophie qualified for the semi-finals and just missed out on a finals spot by less than 0.2 seconds.
Honey Osrin won a silver medal in the 200m backstroke after a very impressive final 100m, only missing the gold by 0.02 seconds! In the 100m backstroke, Honey placed 5th in the final. Honey was part of the women’s 4 x 200m freestyle team who finished in 2nd place, gaining her second silver medal of the Championships.
