Congratulations to Megan Bishop, Year 9 talented footballer, who has been offered a place in the 2019-20 Devon FA Girls’ Advanced Coaching Centre U16 squad. Lots of girls from all over Devon were contending for places in the squad and Megan impressed in two phases of trials to win her place.
Matthew Hodgson, Women's and Girls’ Development Officer for Devon County Football Association, said: "Megan has done fantastically well to gain a place in the Devon FA Girls Advanced Coaching Centre under 16 squad for the 2019-20 season following an extremely competitive trial. There were just under 50 girls all vying for a place in a squad of only 16 players and so all those who made the final squad have done very well. Having been with the Centre a couple of years ago, it’s great to see Megan back and she certainly impressed the coaches with her performance in the trials."
Megan will now train weekly with the Devon FA, playing fixtures against other Counties in the South West as well as some more local mixed/boys football teams. The Devon FA ACC is an FA licensed Centre which sits directly on the FA Female Talent Pathway with potential routes into regional, national and England squads for the really elite players. Devon has a good history of players progressing through this pathway and with female football in such a good place at the moment both locally and nationally, players like Megan have such a lot to aspire to.
