There has been a varied range of extra-curricular activities this week!
Space Club
The space club ROV rover project is coming along nicely - the vehicle's panels have now been cut out on the laser cutter and assembled. The next stage is to get to grips with the electrics and solar panels in order to get our rover on the move. The GoPro camera mount is also assembled and we are hoping to be able to beam video to the rover's control centre.
Politics and Debate Club
Here we have a write up from our Lower Sixth pupil, Rocky:
'After looking at Trump’s term as President in the last session, this week we turned to something a bit closer to home, posing a question about whether we still need the Monarchy. A relevant topic during this time of economic uncertainty (and the arrival of the new Netflix season of The Crown!), those against the existence of the monarchy argued that the system which they represent is built on outdated beliefs dating back to medieval times and is the epitome of an ageing society where the richest are paid for by the poorest and undemocratic institutions continue.
Despite this, the pro-Monarchists established that whilst some aspects of the royal family may be flawed, overall they provide a source of pride and unity which runs above the polarity of politics - a quality which is needed more than ever at this time.'
