Now in its fifth year, the Junior French Trip for Year 8 and 9 pupils to the Château de la Baudonnière was once again a great success with its mix of culture, history, French language immersion and activities. From touchdown until departure there were blue skies and not a cloud to be seen. This certainly set the mood for the trip.
The Château is an adventure centre with all activities being done in French. Some of the most popular activities were the Parcours de Santé (assault course), Tir à l'arc (archery) and Escrime (fencing). Every evening ended with games or sporting activities. During the trip the group went to Arromanches to visit the Normandy landing beaches and the American, British and German war cemeteries. A picnic at the beach was followed by the museum and 360o cinema. The group concluded their long and exciting day out with an evening at a Crêperie.
Yet again Plymouth College won the best kept rooms awards with all pupils achieving full points. Well done to them! A fantastic week was had by all.
"The Junior French Trip was very fun! I think my listening skills in French have improved because of the lessons and activities the Château guides had prepared for us. We went to the Beaches of Normandy and the graves there. It was very educational and interesting." Katie Mabberley
"The château was beautiful with animals like peacocks and rabbits wandering free. The activities were fantastic. At the end of the trip you realise how much French you pick up and are able to speak." Emma Fullalove
