A charity which helps serving and ex-service men, women and their families has raised £1400 by holding a fashion show. The Plymouth branch of SSAFA hosted the event at Plymouth College in conjunction with House of Fraser.
Models graced the catwalk in a series of collections from Coast, East, Hobbs and Phase Eight. The sold-out event also included a raffle with prizes donated by the fashion houses and by Guerlain. This was followed by a cream tea.
SSAFA provides help wherever there is hardship, loneliness or need. The Plymouth branch has 25 volunteers who are specially trained to offer advice and emotional support. Working closely with other Service charities and relevant government and local agencies, assistance can range from paying the heating bill of a war widow, helping with housing problems, aiding a Service family with a disabled child or providing funds for clothing and household items.
"We are delighted with how much money we raised from the event", said Plymouth SSAFA Secretary, Kathy Howard. "With winter upon us it will go towards helping many people who need our support and help at this time of year.
"The models did a superb job in showing off the fantastic range of casual, smart and special occasion's outfits. A massive "thank you" to everyone who supported the event."
