Student Loans, Judicial Reviews, House of Lords and EU Immigration were just some of the hot topics raised by Plymouth College sixth formers when they met local MP, Gary Streeter.
Mr Streeter, MP for South West Devon, hosted a session with Upper Sixth Economics and Politics students as part of the school's Entrepreneurial Society. The exciting initiative was launched earlier this term offering a diverse range of speakers to help bring business and economics alive in a drive to promote enterprise and leadership in young people.
"We had a very lively exchange", said Mr Streeter. "It was a frank and open session and I was very impressed by some extremely intelligent questions."
Previous guests of the Entrepreneurial Society include Reggae Reggae Sauce creator, Levi Roots, and Wetherspoons founder and MD, Tim Martin. Still to come are:
- Chris Dawson, entrepreneur and founder of The Range (27 January 2015)
- James Brent, Chairman Plymouth Argyle (19 February 2015)
- Neil Stallard, MD Alpha Logic (6 March 2015)
- Tim Slade, founder Fat Face (date TBC)
The talks take place at lunchtimes, each one finishing with a Q&A session. As well as Plymouth College students, the events are open to other local schools. For more information and to book places, please contact Aaron Summons [email protected]
