Last Thursday Lower Sixth pupils Daniel Coles and Rocky Dutta attended an aspiring medic day held by Corpus Christi (Cambridge University).
Corpus Christi set up a number of virtual 'master classes' on Zoom for students looking to apply there. Each one focussed on a different subject and included two academic lectures with Corpus academics, a talk on applying to Cambridge, and a chance to speak to current undergraduate students in relevant subjects during a virtual tour of the College and a student panel discussion.
Daniel said, "throughout the day there were many Q and A sessions and breaks but the main talks started with a surprisingly fascinating study about how naked mole rats resist acid and more importantly pain to acid. They want to us study them to help make better painkillers. In addition we had a virtual tour of their absolutely gorgeous campus followed by a talk on how to stand out for a Cambridge application. Finally we listened to a talk on translational medicine”.
The pair have also attended Pre-Med seminars this year with Dr Beech and Dr Harris.
