During the Easter break, some of our Lower 6th pupils were out and about in Plymouth visiting local monuments as part of the Mayflower 401 International Project.
The pupils took video footage of a range of historically significant places and added their own voice-over commentary, in order to send to our partner schools in the Netherlands, Turkey and Nepal. In the light of recent debates, they considered some of the figures who are commemorated in statues and place names, like Francis Drake, weighing his positive role in national history against his involvement in the slave trade and piracy.
Lockdown increased everyone's digital skills and Plymouth College is reaching out to the world while we stay local. We are looking forward to seeing the short films made by our partner schools and understanding their corner of our global culture.
