Plymouth College is holding a Rugby Scholarship Day for players with potential to join the school in Year 9 in September 2015. Taking place on Saturday 14 March, the day will consist of a rugby assessment and interview. It is open to all prospects from schools and clubs across the region.
The school is looking for ambitious youngsters wishing to ally their academic endeavours to a challenging and specially-designed high-performance programme for rugby union. Successful and able players could be awarded a full or part scholarship.
Plymouth College is one of the leading rugby-playing schools in the South West. With a full fixtures list and 7-aside programme, teams from U12 through to U18 often reach the final stages of area and county competitions. In 2011, the 1st XV reached the quarter-final of the Natwest Cup and the semi-final of the Natwest Vase in 2013.
Plymouth College boys can often be found playing for county sides across the age groups with some going on to achieve national selections. The school’s most notable recent player, Henry Slade, reached the England U18 team while still at school. The Exeter Chief fly half is now on the brink of his first senior England cap.
