Plymouth College teacher, Anya Starling, has competed in the long-course Triathlon World Championships. Held in Motala, Sweden, the event was the Head of Geography’s first outing for Great Britain.
The event comprised a 1500m lake swim (shortened from 4000m due to the cold), a 120km undulating bike course and a 30km run. Anya finished in an impressive time of 7 hours 9 minutes; in her age group she was second British female and 21st overall.
Last year Anya competed in Ironman Wales, a gruelling 2.4 mile sea swim, 112 mile bike ride with a total climb of over 7100 feet, and a 26.2 mile run. Her time of 13 hrs 57 minutes placed her 8th in her age group and 59th woman overall.
