Following on from a very successful preliminary round, the Junior Boys and the Inter Girls’ teams both qualified to compete in the Regional round of the English Schools’ National Cross Country Cup, held at Leweston School in Dorset.
In very wet and windy conditions, the Inter Girls team of Lauren Singleton, Elena Sidman, Morwenna Dunstan, Talia Sullivan, Luka Zickert and Azecuna Stelzer went off first. Elena ran incredibly well to finish in 15th position, with the team 11th overall.
The Junior Boys’ team of Oliver Smart, Connor Robinson, Hamish Harris, Joe Taylor, Sam Malcolm and David Sidman enjoyed drier weather, but the conditions were incredibly muddy by the time their turn came. Oliver Smart ran superbly to finish in 2nd place with the team finishing 11th overall.
In other cross country news, thirty three students competed in the Plymouth Schools’ Cross Country Championships with 18 qualifying for the Devon Cross Country Championships in January. Oliver Smart and Elena Sidman came first in their respective races.
