After a successful start to the year, Plymouth College swimmers have posted more great results over the Easter period.
At the Swim Stockholm Open, Olympic champion Ruta Meilutyte took gold in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke, setting the fastest time of the year in the 50m. Kregor Zirk (Estonia) and Felicity Passon (Seychelles) (both pictured) set new national senior records in 50m and 100m butterfly. Meanwhile at the French Olympic trials, Charlotte Simon made two finals and achieved personal best times.
Ana-Maria Damjanovska has qualified for the European LC Championships in London in May after winning eight golds at the Macedonian National Championships. Salvador Gordo won ten gold medals at the Angola National Swimming Championships – he broke one record that was 36 years old! The Welsh National Championships saw double gold for Iestyn Cole and double silver for Isobel Wild.
Finally, Georgia Duff has been given a GLL Sports Foundation Award. Former Plymouth College pupil, Tom Daley, is one of the Foundation’s ambassadors.
