Plymouth College First XV 70 – 5 Cornwall Under 17s
Plymouth College delivered a dominant display against a rather dis-jointed Cornwall side who never really managed to get a foothold in the game. That said, Cornwall started well and enjoyed the better territorial percentages during the first quarter of the game, though they were helped by Plymouth conceding a series of avoidable and careless penalties. Cornwall, though, could not break the College defences. When Plymouth College counter attacked from deep after fifteen minutes, some sharp handling resulted in the first well taken try.
Although Plymouth struggled to execute their kick reception plays effectively, they grew in confidence as the game went on. Plymouth College went on to score three further quick fire tries, all of which were converted by Captain, George Hillson, effectively putting the game beyond Cornwall by half-time.
The squad was rotated at half-time and Plymouth fielded a side for the future consisting almost entirely of Under 16 and Under 17 age grade players. This did not stop Plymouth College from adding to the scoreboard, however, and the game finished with Plymouth as convincing winners.
