Farewell to the Headmaster, Mr Standen
As the Autumn Term drew to a close and following a host of festive activities including the Carol Service, House Music, House Quiz, and of course, the delicious Christmas lunch, the whole school gathered together for a final assembly. Supporting St Luke’s Hospice’s Christmas Jumper Day, the pupils and staff looked supremely colourful and festive!
This was no ordinary end of term assembly however. The time had come to bid farewell to the Headmaster, Jonathan Standen, and his wife Suzie, who now depart for pastures new at Harrow International School, Bangkok. The Headmaster spoke fondly of his time at the College, delivering a strong message to all the pupils to keep challenging themselves until they reach their goals.
The Heads of School gave excellent speeches, entertaining everyone with their favourite memories of the Headmaster, and thanked him for his contribution to all that the Plymouth College community holds dear.
Commenting at an earlier juncture on Mr Standen’s departure, Chairman of the Governors, David Woodgate, said, “I would like to thank Jonathan, on behalf of the Governors and myself, for his tenacity and hard work during his tenure at the College. His outstanding business practice has ensured that the College is perfectly positioned to move forwards in line with the strategic vision of the governors and the next Headmaster, Jonathan Cohen. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Jonathan Standen and his wife Suzie all the best for the future.”
Various awards were made to pupils who have made an outstanding contribution to the Plymouth College community so far this year, and the assembly concluded with a rousing rendition of the school song and ‘We Wish you a Merry Christmas!’
