Plymouth College Junior School pupil, Eleanor Newcombe aged 9, has raised £112.32 for Families for Children. A Christian charity, the voluntary adoption agency places children from all over the UK with stable loving families in Devon, Cornwall and Dorset.
Eleanor decided to organise a raffle because her parents have been supporters of the charity for some time. With the help of her friends Melodie Cherrington and Molly McHugh, she sold tickets in the playground at break times, lunch times and after school. Raffle prizes included three teddy bears, two puppies in pockets, a pencil case and contents, a 'Pirates of the Caribbean' ship and a remote controlled car.
Ally Cotton, Fundraising and Publicity Co-ordinator for Families for Children came along to the draw held during school assembly and presented Eleanor and her friends with certificates in recognition of their hard work.
