Year 4 visited Cotehele House as part of their studies on Tudor England. It was a beautiful, sunny day and the house and gardens looked very inviting in the sunshine.
On arrival, the children were greeted by the two guides and after a brief introduction were all given the opportunity to dress in Tudor style costumes. Some were lavishly dressed as nobles and some as the servants.
The children toured the house as 'Tudors', much to the delight of fellow visitors, and were given a fascinating insight into how life would have been at Cotehele, 500 years ago.
After lunch, which was enjoyed out in the sunshine, the pupils walked down through the Tudor gardens, past the stew pond and dovecot, to the river, where they enjoyed the legend of Richard Edgcumbe's escape from Richard III, before the Battle of Bosworth Field.
