Year 4 visited Cotehele House on the banks of the River Tamar in Cornwall as part of their studies on Tudor England. The children got into character by putting on Tudor-style costumes. Some were lavishly dressed as nobles and some as the servants.
They toured the house as 'Tudors', much to the delight of fellow visitors, and were given a fascinating insight into how life would have been at Cotehele, 500 years ago.
After lunch, the pupils walked down through the gardens, past the stew pond and dovecot, to the river, where they enjoyed the legend of Richard Edgcumbe's escape from Richard 111, before the Battle of Bosworth Field. Here they saw the tiny chapel that Richard Edgcumbe built.
The day ended with a competition to collect as many conkers as possible!
