Year 1 pupils at Plymouth College Preparatory School spent a lovely sunny day at the National Trust's Saltram House last week as part of their topic on 'Olden Times'.
The visit to Saltram allowed the children to experience both upstairs and downstairs life in a large country house. They saw the kitchens, housekeepers' room and the school room. They also went round the beautiful rooms in the main house. One of the most exciting parts of the day was dressing up in period costumes.
After lunch the children went on a tour of the gardens looking for 'mice' and saw an oak tree that was more than 700 years old!
