Plymouth College Preparatory School pupil, Lauren Hession, 11, has beaten the top swimmers at prep schools from around the country to be crowned IAPS National Swimming Champion.
Held at the K2 Centre in Crawley, Lauren not only took gold in the 11 and under 25m butterfly but she also broke the record in 14.86 seconds. The previous record of 14.89 had stood since 2009.
This is not Lauren's first success in the national championships. Last year she was part of the girls' team that swam their way to victory in both the freestyle and medley relays.
"We are very proud of Lauren and delighted with her success in these prestigious championships," said Plymouth College Preparatory School Headmaster, Chris Gatherer. "The Prep School has been competing in this competition for more than 15 years and Lauren joins the ranks of a number of talented swimmers who have achieved great success at a national level."
