It has been a busy month for the Plymouth College Modern Pentathlon and Fencing Academy with three GB call-ups and two national titles.

In Modern Pentathlon, Kelcey Pillage (Youth A), Myles Pillage (Youth B) and Kerenza Bryson (Youth B) (pictured) have been selected for the Great Britain team for the European Championships.  Myles and Kerenza will compete in mid June in Minsk, Belarus while Kelcey will compete in July in St Petersburg, Russia. Their places on the national team were confirmed after five selection events including two Internationals.

The announcement brings the number of current Internationals in the Modern Pentathlon and Fencing Academy to 11. The others are Tia Simms Lymn (Jamaica) Yasmine Fosu (Ghana) Tim Andrews (Ireland) Josh Hellings (England) Chloe Hamilton (England) Valerie Lim (Singapore) May Yuen (Hong Kong) Katie Davies- Gregory (Wales).

Continuing her run of success, Kerenza won her 5th GB title in two years by winning the Youth B British Tetrathlon Championships in Solihull. Catherine Bishop won bronze in the Youth C girls. Both girls won the fencing part of the event. Dan Pengelly, who is new to tetrathlon, finished 8th in Youth B boys and shows a lot of promise for the future.

The British Youth Fencing Championships were held in Sheffield at the English Institute of sport. Tia Simms Lymn retained her British U14 crown in the epée and finished third in the foil.  Benjamin Andrews took silver in the U12s. Catherine Bishop finished 5th in the U14 epée and Josh Hellings also reached the last 8 in the U14 epée. Yasmine Fosu reached the last 16 in epée and foil. Tim Andrews reached the last 16 of the U16 boys.

"I am delighted to see so many great results across these competitions," said Plymouth College Director of Modern Pentathlon, Andy Hill.  "It's been a busy few weeks but the hard work all the young athletes have put into their training has definitely paid off. Next up is the National Pentathlon Championships and the England Youth Fencing Championships towards the end of June. Unfortunately they are on the same weekend so for some athletes there will be choices to be made."
