Plymouth College pupil, Peter Walker, 12, has been awarded a Royal National Children's Foundation Hope, Thackray and Hall Award 2013.
The Year 7 pupil was nominated for the award by Head of Year, Richard Palmer, for his strong academic performance throughout the year, as well as his wider contribution to the life of the College.
Richard Palmer said: "Peter always puts others first before himself and has been an outstanding ambassador for Plymouth College. We are delighted that he has received this award."
Peter was presented with a certificate and a cheque for £50 by Plymouth College Headmaster, Dr Simon Wormleighton.
The Hope, Thackray and Hall Award holds historic links with past beneficiaries and supporters of the old Royal Wanstead School, which was a base for children all over the country from 1827 to 1971. Now known as the Royal National Children's Foundation, the charity continues to support young children.
Each year the trustees of RNCF make up to six awards to young foundationers who have completed their first year at their new school with some distinction, taking every opportunity to achieve academically and socially.
