Plymouth College student, Ben Proud, 18, has earned his first senior Great Britain call up after outstanding performances at the World Championship trials.
Winning three medals and setting three personal bests, Ben broke Mark Foster's 10-year British record in the 50m butterfly. His impressive swim secured one of 27 slots on the British swimming team in Barcelona later this month.
Ben, who has just completed his A Levels, goes into the competition ranked third in the world. He joins fellow Plymouth College pupil and Olympic Champion, Ruta Meilutyte, 16, who will be competing for Lithuania.
