Four Plymouth College pupils and nine alumni will compete for their nations in the Commonwealth Games starting today in Glasgow.
Victoria Vincent, 13, (pictured) will dive in the 10m platform for England. She is the youngest member of the team. Geoff Butler, 18, will swim for the Caymen Islands, Charlotte Atkinson, 17, for the Isle of Man while Olympian, Jamila Lunkuse, 17, will swim for Uganda. Year 8 pupil, Victoria, is part of the school's partnership with Plymouth Diving. The three swimmers are part of the school's partnership programme with Plymouth Leander and are studying for their AS and A Levels.
The school's most well known former pupil, Tom Daley, will dive for England. Another former pupil, Ben Proud, 19, has also made the England team. The British 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle record holder is now studying at Plymouth's University College of St Mark and St John. Now at Stirling University, Scottish record holder, Sian Harkin, 19, will swim for Scotland while Bath University's, Calum Jarvis, 22, will swim for Wales. The other alumni swimming for their nations are: Lara Butler (Cayman Islands), Tieri Erasito (Fiji), Grant Halsall (Isle of Man), Zane Jordan (Zambia), Jade Howard (Zambia).
Diving and swimming at the Commonwealth Games takes place at Tollcross International Aquatic Centre from 24th to 31st July 2014.
