The school was delighted to welcome UK mountaineer and Plymouth College parent, Jerry Gore, to the College at the end of November.
In 2002, Jerry was diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic and each year he completes an Insulin Challenge to raise awareness of the disease and funds for his charity Action4Diabetics. This year's challenge was a speed ascent of the Eiger - which he completed with his climbing partner in an amazing 7 hours 46 minutes. Jerry regaled us with tales of this and other adventures.
The generosity of the 50+ people who came to listen to him speak raised £200. This is enough to provide one young person with enough testing strips for a year and will make a very real difference to him or her. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the evening and donated so generously.
