The Plymouth College Politics Society welcomed the Lord Mayor of Plymouth to speak about his role, responsibilities and the changing local political scene.
The event attracted an excellent turnout of over 40 students from Years 7 to Upper Sixth. The Lord Mayor talked about his decision to turn to politics, the key topical issues of running Plymouth and the importance of Plymouth to the United Kingdom. His Macebearer then explained the significance of the Mayor's Gold Chain, highlighting that his role as Macebearer was essentially to guard the Gold Chain rather than the Lord Mayor!
Head of History and Sixth Form, Ed Beavington, said: "The event was a great success and has done an excellent job of developing political awareness within all year groups of the school."
