Plymouth enjoyed a very competitive day of Sevens at Millfield on Sunday 29th January, finishing runners up in a 10 team tournament.
Plymouth were in a difficult Pool A group that included Millfield, Bryanston, Beechen Cliff (AASE League Academy School) and Millfield II. They started with a comfortable win against Millfield II, before missing out by a single score to Beechen Cliff. A tough encounter against Millfield saw Plymouth come from two scores behind to win in the last minutes, before a 33-5 result against Bryanston enabled Plymouth to qualify on points scored.
The weather had deteriorated steadily throughout the day and with the final played in torrid conditions, Plymouth struggled to cope with a powerful Blundell's side who ran out deserved winners in the final act of the day's rugby script.
The Under 16s also enjoyed a challenging day at Millfield. A young side displayed great spirit throughout the day and although they did not progress to the final, they have much to take from the day. A heartbreaking final play score from a Millfield VII denied the team a victory they genuinely deserved early on in the pool stages, and although the challenges didn't get easier, the boys went about their business with attitude and determination.
