Plymouth First 10 won the 2017 Mount Kelly 10s, winning four matches out of four.

Plymouth started the competition with a game against Exeter College, who like Plymouth had two teams at the event. This first outing proved very positive for The team in black who ran out comfortable winners by a margin of 6 tries to 0. They followed this result up with a comfortable victory against West Buckland, which meant they progressed from their pool in first place.

Their last two games were tighter affairs and with fatigue beginning to be a factor for some, it took some stoic defence at the death to ensure a tense 19-10 victory against Exeter's stronger side. Despite having to go on and play Shebbear almost immediately, Plymouth were the better side and won their final fixture by five tries to one, with Shebbear gaining a consolation score at the death.

Plymouth Second 10 had a really positive afternoon. With 6 under 16 players in their ranks, they more than held their own and achieved a draw against Torquay before losing by a single score in their next game to Shebbear Firsts.

They progressed to the plate section where they met Exeter. A three tries to one lead was agonisingly erased by the older Exeter side, who rubbed salt into Plymouth's wounds by stealing a 2 point win with the final conversion.

Plymouth Seconds played their final game against Mt  Kelly First where they again suffered the pain of a narrow defeat.

The day was a valuable experience for all as the Under 18s and 16s now look ahead to the Millfield 7s taking place on Sunday 29th January.
