The 1st XII started the season well, with a bruising encounter against St Peter’s, Lympstone. Despite limited practice, the Plymouth College Prep team came away with an excellent 14 – 7 win. Tremendous defensive tackling by the whole team earned this result.
The Mount House game was a close game up until half time, after which our forwards decided to work hard in set and loose scrums winning us plenty of good possession. Myles Pillage (Captain) scored two good tries. Plymouth 33, Mount House 7.
We were completely outclassed by a superb Blundell’s team. They dominated in all departments. We did come back for a short while to score our only try but we were given a master class in running rugby. Plymouth 7, Blundell’s 50.
We needed to bounce back from the Blundell’s game and this we did against St Michael’s (Tawstock). With a few positional changes and some strong words from Mr Cottrell, the team were ready for this game. We dominated the game from early on. The forwards hunted for the ball and began to ruck well to give Jack Brazier good possession for the break. Matthew Singh had a good game at fly half and the centres, Myles and Alex Pillage, worked well to move the ball wide. Plymouth 50, St Michael’s 0.
