Plymouth College athletes, Poppy Tank and Emily Ackford, will represent Devon U13 girls in the National County Cross Country Championships in Birmingham in March.
The two girls qualified after Poppy picked up an individual silver medal and Emily came 6th at the South West Inter Counties Cross Country Championships held in Bicton. Running against a competitive field of 53 girls from six south west counties, Poppy and Emily were part of the winning Devon team and came away with a gold medal each.
The following weekend, Poppy and Emily were two of four Plymouth College runners to qualify for the South West Schools Cross Country Championships after success in the Devon Schools event at Seale Hayne.
Representing Plymouth and West Devon Schools, they repeated their 2nd and 6th places in the Junior Girls category and will now take part in the South West Championships in Somerset in February. The other Plymouth College athletes to qualify are Year 7 running star, Frankie Aldred, who came 1st in the Minor Boys' race, and Alice Rogers, who came 8th in the Intermediate Girls.
