Plymouth recorded their biggest win of the season against Redruth in their round 4 Daily Mail Vase match at Delgany Fields. The side played with great energy and intent and put their opponents under pressure by playing at a high tempo.

Despite a shaky start and occasionally suffering from white line fever, the forwards and backs linked together intelligently, playing in the right areas of the field and moving the ball around the field to put their opponents under duress. Redruth possessed no shortage of physicality, but Plymouth contested the breakdown with intent, resulting in quick ball which the backs used intelligently.

Ollie Clenaghan filled in at outside half for the injured Ed Neeves and played well, orchestrating the back line like a virtuoso. George Haslam took on the kicking duties and enjoyed a fruitful afternoon, nailing the majority of his conversion attempts and displaying good precision with his restarts.

A total of 12 tries were scored and the side should look to kick on from this result. Pace, energy and work rate were key to suppressing opposition who could have dragged the game into a dog fight.

Up front, Emil Agobiani enjoyed yet another strong game where his willingness to do the unglamourous graft achieved praise from many onlookers. He was not alone, though, and the balance up front between ball handlers and grafters worked well. Luke Dickinson enjoyed another good game in the centre and was responsible for the pass of the day when he invited Angus Joce onto a beautifully weighted pass that allowed the full back to get behind the defence and score a good looking try. Luke's inability to ground the ball whilst in the act of scoring at another juncture in the match was evidence that the side still need to refine execution of elements of their game.

The full bench of replacements were used and all held up their hands for selection consideration. Replacement prop George Hope set the tone for the second half with a huge tackle from the kick off to the second half and went on to enjoy one of his best performances.

Final score Plymouth College 74, Redruth 10.
