The Plymouth College swimming team has clinched six out of twelve English Schools Swimming Association titles making it the top school in the country for the sixth year running. Held in Coventry, Plymouth College also broke four records.
Plymouth College came out on top in the Intermediate Girls' Freestyle Relay (new record), Intermediate Girls' Medley Relay, Senior Girls' Freestyle Relay (new record), Senior Girls' Medley Relay (new record), Senior Boys' Freestyle Relay (new record) and Senior Boys' Medley Relay. The Junior Girls were not far off the top spot taking second and third place in the Medley Relay and Freestyle Relay respectively. The Intermediate Boys also took second (Freestyle Relay) and third (Medley Relay). The remaining titles were picked up by Millfield School (two titles), Guilford High School (two titles) and Whitgift School (two titles)
"I am delighted that Plymouth College continues to be the top school in the country for swimming", said Clive Hambly, teacher in charge of swimming at Plymouth College. "There were many fine individual performances from our swimmers and a number of personal bests were broken.
"These championships round off a fantastic year for Plymouth College swimmers that has seen an Olympic Champion, European Junior Champion as well as a host of other international medals and national records."
