Plymouth College have progressed to the 6th round of the Daily Mail Vase competition with what turned out to be a fairly comfortable victory against Exeter School.
After a forgettable first half that saw the sides tied at three points apiece, Plymouth turned up the heat post interval and started to gain a foothold in the game. Having been rather lethargic for much of the early exchanges, Plymouth started to find some urgency and tempo in attack. Tries ensued for Tom Jordan and Callum Cload, which were added to by successful conversions from the boot of Ed Neeves.
A further penalty gave the home side a 20-3 advantage going into the final quarter, but rather than forge ahead at this stage, a very well taken long range try by Exeter reduced the lead to 10. However, Plymouth weren't to be denied and completed the scoring through a penalty by George Haslam.
Final score Plymouth College 23, Exeter School 10.
