Plymouth College student Ruta Meilutyte created history tonight when she took gold in the Fina World Championships in Barcelona. Ruta part of the Elite Athlete programme at Plymouth College also broke the world record in the semi-final to qualify for the final. This performance means that at the age of 16 Ruta is the Olympic Champion, World Champion and world record holder in the 100M breaststroke.
