Plymouth College's modern languages speaking competition was a hotly contested event. Held over three weeks, the competition culminated in an exciting final in the school library.
Years 8 and 9 had to speak about My Family, My Hometown or My Hobbies while Year 10 talked about My Holiday, A Film I Enjoyed or Health and Fitness. The Sixth Form had to present for 3 minutes on My Dream or a topic of their choice.
The judging panel was headed by Monsieur Alain Sibiril, French Honorary Consul in Plymouth.
"I thought the competition would be a great way of getting pupils enthused and interested in languages outside of normal lessons," said Head of French and Spanish, Philip Randall. "All the participants really rose to the challenge and there were some outstanding performances."
The results were:
- Yr 8/9 Winner Victoria Vincent
- Yr 8/9 Runner-Up Izzie Harding
- Yr 10 Winner Claire Tinmanee
- Yr 10 Runner-Up Kerrie Johnson
- L6/U6 Winner Mae Dartnell (Spanish)
- L6/U6 Runner-Up Mae Dartnell (French)
The winners and runners-up go through to the regional final in Barnstaple at the end of March.
