Plymouth College suffered the cruel agony of being defeated in the dying seconds of the final when their opponents, Blundell's, broke out of their 22 with the last play of the match and raced clear to touch down. The final score of 21-17, each side scoring three tries apiece, gives a true reflection of how tight the match was.
The Plymouth squad started the tournament slowly, but gradually improved as the day went on, securing victories over Mount Kelly, South Devon, Devonport High School for Boys and Torquay BGS. Although disappointed with the result, this tournament should serve as a real confidence booster for the team as small improvements in a few key areas could really turn this squad into a formidable Sevens outfit.
There were many standout performers on the day, but special mention to George Hillson (Year 11!), who had an outstanding day.
