Plymouth College’s Poppy Tank, 18, will represent the South West at the English Schools’ Cross Country Championships. Poppy hopes to beat her impressive 4th place achieved last year at the national event, which this year is being held in Nottingham on 5th March.
In a season that has seen her go from strength to strength, Poppy was selected after winning the South West event. Held in Cheltenham, the race saw very challenging conditions for the runners as they tackled a muddy and slippery course, in gale force winds and torrential rain.
Poppy has been steadily improving since having a couple of seasons plagued with injury. Her emerging talent has been spotted by the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where she has been offered a 100% scholarship with coaching to progress her to international level.
