Plymouth College 1st XI continued their impressive start to the season with another away victory, this time against Shebbear College.
The game began tentatively for Plymouth College, who struggled to adapt to a slippery pitch and faced some pacey, attacking play from the hosts. However, excellent defensive work from Peter Loxdale, Charlie Daulton and Hamish Rose in particular prevented Shebbear taking the lead, while Toby Farley, Josh Hellings and Al Spicer became more prominent in attack. As Plymouth College tightened their stranglehold on the game towards the end of the first half, some excellent interplay saw Al Spicer calmly slap the ball into the bottom corner of the goal to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
The second period saw a better performance from the boys from Ford Park, with more fluency and interplay evident throughout. Harris Tzokas used the ball cleverly and enabled a greater threat to develop from the left hand side. After some good build up involving Spicer and Tzokas, Plymouth College won a penalty corner which Ollie Dinnis dispatched emphatically to double the lead. While this put the game to bed, Shebbear continued to offer a threat up front but James Heale's dominance in net enabled the visitors to retain their clean sheet.
Final score Shebbear College 0 Plymouth College 2.
