First Team Match Report
Written by Alice Simmonds
On Wednesday the First team played a netball match against Tavistock College, which resulted in Plymouth College winning 57-14.
In the first quarter Felicity (C) and Grace F-J (WA) worked well together in bringing the ball down to the attacking end, which gave us a good lead of 9 goals to 4 in the first 10 minutes.
Throughout the second quarter, Tia (GD), Liz (WD) and Laura (GK) defended very well and intercepted the ball quite often, especially in Tavistock's centre passes. There was some great play down the court with swift transitions between our defence and our attack, allowing us to extend our lead further. The score was 18-7 going into the third quarter.
Plymouth College continued to play well and we managed to score on almost every centre pass. Some great triangles were made between Alice (GS), Becca (GA) and Felicity (C) in our attacking circle. Despite some tall Tavistock players, we still managed to shoot well, getting a lot of distance shots in. The score at this point was 34-9.
In the final quarter, Ava came on as (WA) and played well, effectively getting round the defenders and feeding into the D, which resulted in a win of 57-14 for Plymouth College. Overall, it was an exciting game to watch with some great through court play and the final score reflected the team's determination and hard work. Alice was named player of the match, however the whole team played exceptionally well.
