Students at Plymouth College are celebrating this morning after receiving their GCSE results.

Top performer was James Douie with 11 A*s.  Close on his heels were Kevin Vandabona with 10A*s and 1 A, Harry McEleny with 9A*s and 1 A, Paul Vallis with 8A*s and 2As and Annabel Norris with 7A*s and 3As.  Incredibly, Kevin and Paul got A*s in A Level Maths last week while James got an A grade.  James and Paul also got As in the Certificate in Financial Studies (CeFS), which is equivalent to an AS Level, while Kevin secured a B.

An increasing number of students are taking IGCSEs, a more rigorous qualification than normal GCSEs, which saw a pass rate of 92.2%.  The overall A* to C pass rate was 85%.

"Congratulations to all our student receiving their GCSE results today," said Plymouth College Headmaster, Dr Simon Wormleighton.  "We are a non-selective school with a number of students for whom English is not their first language so this is a particularly pleasing set of results.

"James, Kevin and Paul have done extremely well gaining top grades in A Level Maths two years early on top of their remarkable GCSE results and their grades in the CeFS."
