Plymouth College is holding a Sports Scholarship Morning for talented all-round sportsmen and women interested in joining the school in Years 9 or 10 in September 2016.  Taking place on Saturday 21st May, the morning will consist of aptitude tests and sports activities.  It is open to athletes from schools and clubs across the region.

Plymouth College has a reputation as one of the top sports schools in the country regularly producing national, regional and county prospects across team sports in rugby, hockey, netball and cricket. Its performance athletes in swimming, fencing, multi-eventing and diving make world headlines.

The school offers a unique environment for its athletes - a first-class academic education with the very best in sports coaching.  The programmes are driven by experienced and enthusiastic teams with specialists in areas such as strength and conditioning.  In addition, partnerships with leading clubs and organisations enhance the opportunities available.

Team sports at Plymouth College enjoy a full fixtures list with participation in a range of national and local tournaments.  Overseas trips are also part of the playing experience – this summer the girls’ hockey team is touring Barbados.

Former pupil, England International and Exeter Chiefs’ player, Henry Slade, said: “I loved my time at Plymouth College and really enjoyed the mix of sports.  As well as rugby I played cricket, basketball, squash, badminton and athletics. I was encouraged to continue with other sports even when I was part of the England rugby programme. I really believe that having that variety played a big part in my development as a sportsman.”
