Competitions Music & Performance

Pantomime was the theme of Plymouth College's very entertaining House Drama competition.

Involving pupils from all year groups, each House had to organise their own production - casting, costumes, props, direction - without any help from teachers.

Sargents were up first with a very comical production of Dick Whittington. Jeremy Lane (Year 7) was impressive as Dick, ably supported by Phoebe Hirst (U6) as the Cat. Chaytors' version of Ali Baba was full of Eastern promise. Year 9's Harry Smith was the hero of the title with strong performances by Iona Brockie (Year 7) as the head thief and Tamar Shields (Year 8) as Ali Baba's mother.

Dales got the second half started with a hugely entertaining version of Aladdin. Hilarious performances were given by Greg Irving (Year 9) as Wishy-Washy and Albert Slade (Year 9) as Widow Twankey. Palmers closed the evening with Mother Goose. Head Boy Emil Agobiani (U6) was the Dame of the title with Charles James (U6) as the baddie.

After much deliberation, the judges announced Dales the winner. They awarded best actress to Phoebe Hirst and best actor jointly to Jeremy Lane and Greg Irving.
