More than 80 pupils from Plymouth College Preparatory School and Plymouth College took part in the Plymouth Festival of Speech and Drama this year.
The Prep School children (pictured) competed in a range of classes across the age groups from 6 years and under through to 13 years and under. First places were won by:
James Webb – Humorous Verse 8 and 9 years; 9 and under 12 Bible Reading
Katie Short – 10 years Solo Verse Speaking
Joanna Sells – Solo Acting (from and play) 11 years and under
There were also ten runners up, 32 commended and 29 merits. Most of the children are coached by Mrs Pick. Mrs Blake coaches Joanna Sells and Mrs Eadie coaches Olivia Eadie.
All the Senior School pupils competing achieved merit or higher. Winners included Poppy Vernon (Solo Acting and Own Choice Verse Speaking), Izzy Courtman (Novice Verse Speaking) and Megan Shorey (Verse Speaking). The festival competitors were taught by Zoe Vigus.
