As we enter half term, I would like to say a big thank you to all pupils, parents and staff for their amazing efforts. When I look back at what we have achieved as a school, I feel very proud to be part of such a kind, caring and hardworking community. We have shown, by being resilient, respectful and working collaboratively, that the Plymouth College family have done really very well this half term.
In Pre-School this week, they have been in Topsy-Turvy Land and working in different ways, this has proved a fun week and a great way to end the half term. They have also explored Pumpkins, carving them, describing the texture and carving a happy pumpkin face! I was impressed to see how well our youngest pupils managed to paint on paper that was taped under the table!
Reception pupils have been practising for their Christmas production already and I have heard some amazing singing. They have also made huge progress with their phonics and reading. Ms McWilliam is delighted with all of them!
In Year 1 pupils were fantastic in their seaside themed assembly. To stand up and deliver words, read poems and sing and create art work on the same theme was a lovely treat this week. Well done to them all! Mrs Manuel, Mrs Hanvey and Mrs Smith would like to commend the children in Year 1 for presenting a very enjoyable seaside themed assembly.
Year 2 have kept working hard and are making super progress with their questioning skills, particularly when looking at non-fiction books. They are able to write using headings and subheadings. They have also enjoyed learning about volcanoes and cities.
In Years 3 and 4 children are working by being creative. Their music lessons are going well, they too are beginning to look ahead to producing a Christmas spectacular show. Year 3 have been learning about the Romans and have made some incredibly detailed shields. Well done!
I have seen how much effort Year 5 and 6 have put into their extra-curricular activities this half term. It is wonderful that they have been able to experience clubs such as Samba band, magazine club as well as rugby and hockey clubs. I have enjoyed working with a very happy group of Year 6 pupils on a Friday after school and we are looking forward to sharing our first edition of a pupil magazine with you next term.
Thank you to the PFA for helping organise some half term treats for the pupils and to our Governor, Mr Chris Morton, for growing and donating the large pumpkin that has been the cause of much excitement this week. The winner closest to the weight of 24.7kg was Freya Wynne in Year 3. We have also raised £214.40 by wearing something pink today and supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
I hope you enjoy the photos from our final few days of this half term.
